Perforation:

Before making the perforation, your piercer will clean the area and use a sterilized curved gauge needle to make a perforation by pushing it through the cartilage and will insert jewellery immediately through it. However, every piercer technique is different, but it is essential to ensure that your piercer uses a single-use disposable needle.

After Care

Your ears will likely catch bacteria while using headphones, phones and clothes. Therefore you need to be more careful when choosing snug piercing. Following are the aftercare tips to lessen the healing time and make it germs-free.

  • Always wash your hands before touching the piercing.
  • Clean your piercing with saline solution twice a day.
  • Don’t let foreign objects, including headphones, pillows, clothes, or telephones, touch your piercing
  • Cartilage piercings are more prone to bumps and scarring; therefore, avoid moving or touching your jewellery
  • Avoid nickel jewellery for the piercing
  • Don’t use harsh chemicals on new piercings. Your body is still healing from the piercing and chemicals can irritate it and slow down the healing process. Instead, use a natural solution to avoid infection.

No matter how much you clean the piercing, there might be some symptoms that may scare you but are totally normal. These include swelling, redness, soreness, and even a light pain that disappears after a few days of piercing.

Pustules: these are the bumps filled with fluid, as is extremely common in cartilage piercing. You need to be extra careful. They can also form if your ear is incompatible with snug piercing, so discuss with your piercer before getting it done. 

Infection: This can happen to any piercing. If you catch a swelling that is not going away even after a few days of piercings and carries a discharge around the site or cracking, seek medical help immediately.

Pain Level:

Snug piercing is regarded as one of the most painful cartilages piercing as it is tougher and needs more force to pierce hence more pain. On a scale of 10, it is rated as 9 based on pain level.

Healing Time

Snug piercing needs approximately four to six months to heal, or sometimes it will take a year to heal completely. Moreover, you need to understand when it is properly healed. If you find no sensitivity in the area or there is no crust building, Pain or swelling, it is healed. But you need to take care of it even after it is healed because this piercing is easy get traumatized again.
